Before submitting, please ensure your manuscript meets the requirements set out below.
Authorship (ICMJE + CRediT)
Authorship at Hikmah follows the ICMJE recommendations. Each author must provide an ORCID iD and meet the four ICMJE criteria. Contributor roles are declared using the CRediT taxonomy. AI tools cannot be authors.
Research ethics
Empirical-ethics or meta-research articles involving human participants or human data must include an ethics committee name and approval reference number. Written informed consent is required for identifiable participant data. Sex and gender per SAGER. PPI statement required. Indigenous communities: CARE Principles alongside FAIR.
Conflict of interest
Authors must complete the ICMJE Disclosure of Interest form. Ethics-journal submissions are screened with particular care for institutional, financial, and ideological conflicts that might affect the framing of the work.
Funding
Authors must disclose all funding sources, grant numbers, and the role of the funder.
Data sharing (ICMJE + FAIR)
Empirical ethics: data underlying results must be shared to the fullest extent compatible with consent, ethics, and law. Clinical-data work: ICMJE Data Sharing Statement. E156 capsule is the recommended mechanism.
Reproducibility
For empirical articles: analysis code, cleaned datasets, materials/instruments versions, and tests or runnable notebooks. Bronze / silver / gold Assurance badge recognises completeness. Long-form essays are not expected to provide capsules.
Reporting guidelines
Where applicable: SRQR/COREQ for qualitative ethics work, PRISMA for systematic ethics reviews, CARE for case analyses, STROBE for observational empirical-ethics studies.
Preprint policy
Preprints are welcomed; disclose the server, DOI, and posting date and update on publication.
AI / LLM disclosure
Use of generative AI must be disclosed in Methods or Acknowledgements, specifying model, version, task, and extent of human editing. AI cannot be an author. The full AI / LLM Disclosure Policy is published as a separate page.
Image manipulation
Selective adjustment, cloning, splicing, or insertion/removal of features in figures is prohibited.
Plagiarism and text recycling
Submissions are screened using Crossref Similarity Check (configuration in progress).
